What shall we do about Myrtle?

A “horror graphic novel” about a supervillain called Myrtle Rust, who wants to take over Myrtacae populations using parasitic spores that attach themselves to suitable hosts and drain the lifeblood out of them. Myrtle was a vain individual who was very pretty and popular at High School, yet was also hated for appearing so perfect. One day in science she got into an accident which disfigured her face and paralysed her body. She was in a coma for 7 years when the Syzgium corporation offered to try and save her by trialling an untested bacterial formula with healing properties.

Aroha lives and works in Dunedin, New Zealand. Her work constantly interrogates issues of escapism through various media as well as social, political and economic inequality still prevalent in contemporary society. It encompasses sculpture, installation art, painting, sound, drawing and video. Novak has been exhibiting in solo and group shows since 2008.
